November 1st - Livermore Republican Town Committee Meeting - 7 PM
November 1st members of the Livermore and Livermore Falls GOP gathered at the Community Building in Livermore to hear Dan Schuberth, Bowdoin College Student and College Republican National Secretary, address “Carrying the Banner for Conservative Values on Maine’s College Campuses.” He stated that the College Republicans are a very conservative “Watch Dog” organization. They became active in Maine two years ago on the Bates, Bowdoin and Colby campuses, and now there are active groups on 23 Maine campuses and the Maine organization is a model for colleges in other states. They are a grassroots political movement of volunteers whose goals include electing Republicans at all levels of government and advancing Republican beliefs in liberal academic environments. Dan also spoke of the Academic Bill of Rights, which is a doctrine supporting the principle that all classrooms are to be run and all funding is to be distributed with a neutral bias.
It was noted that the Livermore GOP’s winter meetings will be held in the Function Room at LakeShore on Route 4 in Livermore. Guest speakers will include gubernatorial candidates David Emery on December 6th, Peter Mills on January 3rd and Chandler Woodcock on February 7th.
